Sonya Godley Locations: Wallingford & Henley

Sonya is a child and adolescent Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and is accredited with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP).  She is also registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).  She has a psychology degree, a postgraduate diploma in social work and an MSc. in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

Sonya is experienced working with children, young people and families in a variety of Health, Education and Local Authority settings.  She has worked successfully with children and young people with a range of emotional and mental health difficulties such as anxiety disorders (OCD, PTSD, social anxiety, panic and generalised anxiety) and low mood/depression.

She also specialises in working with the effects of trauma, abuse and neglect on children’s mental health and attachment.

Whilst most often working within a CBT framework, Sonya also has experience and training in a range of other therapeutic models and will draw on these as appropriate depending on individual need. She works with children of all ages and also supports parents and carers.

As well as working for a Local Authority therapeutic team, Sonya is also a tutor and lecturer on the CBT for Children and Young People MSc course at the Anna Freud Centre (UCL). She also provides CBT consultation and training to external Health, Education and Social Care professionals in person and via Skype/phone.
