Paula Reid

Thank you for visiting my profile, so, if you have reached this far then I know you are ready for change. The question you may well be asking yourself is: Why should you work with me?

The answer is simple - as your therapist, I will help you travel through your therapeutic journey, in a caring and empathic manner. The sessions are goal-focused and only when you have comfortably completed your goals and feel stable in your life, then will therapy be completed. All therapy sessions are set at your own individual pace.Reid Paula Oxford Talking Therapies

I am passionate about the work that I do, and I can say with absolute conviction that I love my job. My clients tell me I am approachable, friendly and that they find me easy to engage with. I have over 20 years’ experience of working within a number of settings, which include the NHS, local authority and the voluntary sector. I now work part time in the private sector as well as having my own private practice. I offer therapy to both in-patients and out-patients. I also have experience of running and designing group work programmes.

I am a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, and I am currently registered with the BABCP. I have extensive experience in working with adults, parents, children, and adolescents. I am also a trained Social Worker and registered with Social Work England.

I often use CBT to work with anxiety, depression, low mood, eating disorders, phobias, OCD and eating disorders.

I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing). This therapy is evidence based and considered an effective intervention for treating the long-term impact of trauma, so if you have been traumatised by past events then this may well be the therapy for you.

In 2020 I trained in Schema therapy. This therapy helps to address those unhelpful behaviour patterns which may have developed because of early life experiences; it is a therapy which helps you to become the healthy adult you deserve to be, some of the behaviours you may have developed might be as follows:

• A mistrust of others
• Engaging in unhelpful relationships
• Being overly dependent upon others
• Coping with your behaviours using food, alcohol, drugs, or avoidance
• Often using anger to push people away

As a parent myself I also know how challenging children can be so if you need support and help with parenting a primary school age child, then I am here to help. I am trained in delivering a specific parenting package to parents of anxious children. This programme can be delivered online, and it will help you to parent your child more effectively.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my profile and I look forward to working with you.
